Some tips about text size, printing and warnings

Hello my lovelies.

I just thought I'd let you know about a very handy feature available when you're reading a story. Some of you may have already spotted it but if you find the default font to be too small, you can enlarge it by clicking on the "+" sign located right next to "Text Size" in the upper right corner of the story. And if you would like to have a story in print format, you can do so by clicking on the printer icon located right below "Table of Contents".

Also, I just wanted to mention that the warning "Het" doesn't have to be added to a story that's already categorized as Het. Same thing for the warning "Slash" with a Slash story. The reason why I added those warnings in the first place is for stories which involve both. Sometimes a story will be predominantly Het but will have a couple of Slash scenes in it (or vice versa). That's when the warnings should be used, so the reader knows that they shouldn't expect the story to be entirely Slash or entirely Het. Hope this helps clearing up the confusion.

And just remember that an author should NEVER have to put a Het warning on a Het story anyway... It's not because Het seems to be a dying breed in fanfiction that we should apologize for writing and/or reading it. Which reminds me that some fabulous Het stories have been submitted here over the past month or so and I'm really thrilled because it will help bringing the balance back with Slash. So keep those Het stories coming, ladies! :-D

New sub-category added

Well, the poll is now closed and even though the results are not overwhelmingly positive (it was practically 50-50), I've decided to add a new category called "Played by Karl". It will be a sub-category of Het and Slash, just like Fictional Person and Real Person.

Here's a definition of what will be accepted in that particular category:

Any story featuring an original fictional character described as looking exactly like Karl but having a different name and preferably exhibiting the same type of personality.

I realize that some of you are not interested in reading such stories and it's entirely your right but for those of you who do, it will give you something different to sink your teeth into. :-D

New Poll and... Karl on TV this weekend!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ POLL! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Alrighty, ladies, here's the first Urban Reveries poll ever... *drumroll* This is so much fun, I love doing polls and I'm so happy I can get your input this way!

Recently, two of our authors have come up with stories where the main character isn't Karl but looks exactly like him. Now this is not something I would usually archive here. Since we have Real Person stories, I didn't see the point. But if you, my dear readers, show a definite interest in reading such stories, then I will change the rules. Simple as that. :-D

You can take the poll (left-hand menu) and you can also leave your comments under this news item. Thank you!

Comanche Moon

Also, I don't usually post news about Karl on this site but this is indeed important so here goes: a fan sent me an email today asking me if I could post a message here to remind everyone that Karl will be on TV this weekend as Woodrow Call in the mini-series Comanche Moon which will be presented on the American network CBS.
It will air in 3 parts: on Sunday, January 13, on Tuesday, January 15, and the last part on Wednesday, January 16, from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on each night.

Watch it if you can because I'm sure Karl will make us proud, I can tell you that! :-D

Official Opening!

I officially declare the new archive open as of now. I was hoping to have all the stories transferred from the old archive before announcing the opening of this one but as you may have noticed, I ran into a coding problem with the main page so I decided to rush things a bit.

This new format (eFiction) will be much more interactive. Authors can now submit their stories directly through the site (although they still have to be approved before appearing), readers can leave reviews here and they can even customize their accounts with lists of their favourite stories and authors. You also have a choice of 4 different skins (Romantic, Groovy, Ghost and Vaako) if you would like to change the header and color scheme of the main page (see the pull-down menu in the "Site Info" section).

Please note that only the people who register can enjoy all the features this archive has to offer. For example, if you are not registered, you won't be able to review a story. If you're an author, please make sure that you're not already a member before registering. If you're already a member, just email me and I will make sure you receive a temporary password which you are encouraged to change afterwards.

As I said before, not all stories have been uploaded yet so if you're an author and would like to upload your own, please feel free to do so. You can also edit the ones which have already been uploaded, if any. If you have any questions on how to do it, please read the illustrated tutorial in the "Help" section (upper menu).

And finally, don't hesitate to leave your feedback as a comment to this entry, as I would love to read what you think of this new format! :-D
